Project Overview
The East Lake Avenue Bridge over North Branch Chicago River Improvement Project is a bridge replacement project currently in the preliminary engineering phase. During this phase, the project team will develop several design alternatives and conduct environmental and engineering studies to determine the preferred alternative. The preferred alternative will be presented at a public information open house on January 15, 2025 to give the community an opportunity to provide input.

Community members can also provide feedback before or after the open house through the project comment form. Comments received by February 12, 2025 will be included in the official project record.
After the final design of the preferred alternative, construction of the new bridge is targeted for 2026.
